The year is 22xx. Two hundred years ago, the a virus was spread into the waters of the world. Nobody knows who did it, or why. The virus was an aggressive bacteria that was able to photosynthesize rapidly in the water, and create a gas that was incredibly flammable and odorless. When humanity realized, it was too late. the atmosphere was turned into a bomb. It burnt away, it cooked the land, and evaporated the oceans.
It was called “Wormwood”

An estimated two hundred years passed after the events. 90% of the continent’s population lives in underground cities. there is no breathable air on the surface, there is no greenery on the surface. what is left of the oceans is fastly evaporating. humanity will live, but the planet will be turned into a barren rock that will eventually run out of materials.

One day, without warning. a Goddess stepped foot on our planet. Just like Wormwood, nobody knows where she came from. She was able to restore greenery, and a livable environment to the planet where she was, and was able to keep the land alive, so long as she was near it. Wherever she stepped, grass grew. People could live outside. We could once again inhabit the surface of the earth.

Ten years ago, the Goddess, her name Arlenn, and known by her followers as The Dryad, Arlenn had disappeared as soon as she came. The places where she lived started to wither, but the people kept faith she would return. and the church of Arlenn lived strong.

Humanity now lives in city states, under the earth and controlled by one of three corporations. Arcadia, Gaia, and Babel.
The Arcadia corp. their color blue, is devoted to restoring humanity to the surface, in its futuristic surface cities.
Gaia corp. the color of red, the largest of the three corporations. They run the majority of the underground cities, and salvaging industry. They will expand us under the earth so we can live.
Babel corp. the color green. Much is unknown about the corporation other than they are interested in harnessing the Dryads power.
